CONGRATULATIONS! YOU’RE HUMAN!

I think the word “diet” should be abolished. Nobody needs to diet to achieve anything. Diets lead to temporary extremes that eventually backfire in my experience. Also, the thinking that we “blew it” might as well keep going and wait for the perfect time to start is also a dangerous way to think. I tell you this from agonizing and frustrating personal experience. So you had a massive binge? Congratulations, you’re human! Get up the next day, forgive yourself, eat normally and you’ll feel better shortly. Want to lose a few pounds? Okay fine. A few less desserts here and there.

You don’t have to eat everything in sight and then declare this dramatic diet. Your body is smart. It will keep sabotaging your efforts for good reason. Moral of the story? To achieve anything we must make choices that are sustainable and balanced in order to make lasting progress. Don’t waddle in self-pity. Don’t think you have to lose 10 pounds overnight. Come as you are and live in the moment enjoyably. ~Britt
