VULNERABLE HEALING

You beautiful warriors. Stop thinking life is meant to be lived in a perfect, forward moving straight line. Stop believing your worth is measured in unrealistic ideas that pop into your head of “success” or “recovery.”

We all have our ups and downs and we all have different ways we cope. Few of us like to talk about it. That’s okay. But I’d like to talk about it and I’d like to share, so that you all understand that there is such a reward in tackling your demons head on, and that you aren’t alone.

It would be easier not to do the hard work – to turn your head the other way – to continue on with life – never fully addressing that nagging crutch (be it a poor coping skill, or be it to the point of life threatening). Either way, it takes its toll on your soul, and that should never be up for bargain.

My journey has been long and vicious, but more importantly its been beautiful. Know that I’m growing with you all. Life has become so much more positive and fulfilling. I do have plenty of days where I’m haunted by my past. I have had bouts of sadness, anxiety, PTSD, loneliness, and complete uncertainty as to what I should be doing with my life.

My recovery has only gone forward, but it’s stayed true to the cliche saying of 2 steps forward, 1 back – sometimes 6 steps forward, 2 back – sometimes 3 steps forward, 4 back – but I am never back to square one and never will be. The same holds true for you all.

Because I’m choosing to do the tough work, as opposed to occupying my mind with something I’m more comfortable with (people pleasing/ external success) I am healing in a wholesome way that is a gift of a journey to be on.

It’s okay to put yourself first. It’s okay to let yourself come undone – so that you can put yourself back together – stronger and more beautiful than ever before. ~Britt
